BHS Lacrosse Tryout Information

 

The Brighton  Lax program will, once again, field three boy's lacrosse teams.  In 2025, we will stay with  JV/VarsityB/VarsityA.

 

Our Varsity B team will play a competitive schedule and will be considered a full varsity team.  

 

All players will be assessed during a three day tryout on Monday, Tuesday and Wedneday,  of the first week of allowable practices.  These practices will be held indoors at our indoor facility.  We will return to our tradition meeting with every player, in person, on Thursday's in the signing room in the Athletic Department.

 

The staff will assess players on the following criteria:

    - Grade

    - Stick Skills (Passing/Catching/Shooting/Cradling/Dodging)

    - Defensive Skills- Individual and Team

    - Offensive Skills- Individual and Team

    - Intangibles (Leadership, Academic performance, Hustle/Effort, etc.)

 

Our 3 Team/2 Varsity Team platform is designed to maximize playing time during the year.  We will roster players in a way that allows us to enter the MHSAA playoffs with a full roster of experienced players at the Varsity level. The two varsity team format provides excellent flexibility in rostering a team and will allow players to extend their High School lacrosse careers.  

 

We want all of our student-athletes to have the opportunity to represent BHS in competition.

 

As a general rule of thumb, an underclassman moved from JV to Varsity B or JV to Varsity A will play significant minutes in games.  We will not move anyone up a level and have them spend the season on the bench.
